P. 1 - Due Thursday, April 13 - A Visit with the Guidance Counselor

Recently, you had the opportunity to visit with one of your campus guidance counselors and learn about a number of factors surrounding his/her job.

Make a comment/compliment sandwich on this blog which includes something about one of the following:
  • Her education background
  • The journey that brought her to the position as a guidance counselor
  • The tasks she has to do on a regular and irregular basis
  • The personal characteristics needed to be successful as a guidance counselor
  • How she serves students, faculty and staff, and the community
  • The skills necessary to be a successful guidance counselor
  • The rewards of being a guidance counselor
Be sure that the comment portion of your remark adds value to the discussion.  Other readers should be able to take something thought-provoking away from your entry.

    I think Mrs. Bagley is cool because she doesn't have the same experience as the other councilors.

    I really liked Mrs. Larson because she showed us how much effort she puts into getting us to graduate. I was shocked that Mrs. Larson started her path at Amarillo college along with Mrs. Stevenson.

    Caitlin Hoffman: I was surprised the hear how many different tasks she has to do. I couldn't even fit them all on my paper! I definitely have a newfound respect for Ms. Trivino; she works hard at what she does.

    I really like how she has a lot of patience, she's patient because she loves what she is doing which is key for being a good counselor.

    I really liked the way Mrs. Bagley told us about her job. Another thing is what do you think about me becoming a Guidance Counselor, and what tips or things you want to say to me for that.

    Madison Artist-
    Mrs. Trevino does a good job of taking the student's ideas into consideration. She asked the Richland group about how we feel about the HB5 rules. She also asked us how she should manage the meetings with the freshman about their transcripts and how to make them more aware of what classes they should be taking.

    Mrs. Bagley never actually taught school which I thought was really interesting. She was also really chill and helped us a lot by being straight to the point with her answers. She kept things moving along and was very accommodating. She told us that the best part of her job is being able to make a difference in people's lives, which was quite inspiring.

    Sarah Young: I think Mrs. Larson was awesome. She is so caring and helps everyone out as best as she can. Mrs. Larson and all the other counselors work so hard and work so far ahead to make sure that everything is good for the upcoming years. She and all the other counselors are so awesome.

    Mrs. Larson is very friendly but I was surprised when she said that you have to be a teacher for three years before you become a Counselor.

    i think Mrs. Bagley was caring, she cares about the students to make them feel safe and to make them feel like they can trust her to talk to her. i like how she's from maryland. i want to go live over there and sounds like a good place.

    Caitlyn lytle~ I like that the most rewarding thing about her job is to see the seniors walk across the stage. I wonder how she can remember every students name?

    Mrs. Larson is very nice and has been doing an amazing job for many yaers, but I was surprised on how long it took to get her masters degree.

    Priscilla Valles, I think that Mrs. Larson is a very caring person but i was surprised at how much work and tasks she has to do as a counselor.

    I really liked Mrs. Bagley because, she works very hard and cares about all the students. I know this because she said it herself "If i had to make a choice, Maryland or Texas I will stay in Texas." She is so awesome!
